Urban Wetlands and Stream Pollution

Our objective is to understand the pathways and fate of pollutants and to investigate how urban environments influence the health of aquatic ecosystems.

Urban Wetlands and Stream Pollution

This research area focusses on the impact of anthropogenic pollution on wetlands and streams in the urban environment. Our objective is to understand the pathways and fate of pollutants, and to investigate how urban environments influence the health of these ecosystems. We are particularly interested in how sediments act as ‘sinks’ for pollutants.

Research in this area will help identify the major stressors affecting urban aquatic ecosystems, determine their sources, formulate strategies to mitigate their impacts on biological communities, and ultimately increase the health and resilience of urban streams and wetlands.
